Patchwork Pots Workshop with Lulu Fichter

  • MAXT Makerspace 49 Vose Farm Road, STE 110 Peterborough, NH, 03458 United States (map)

9:30am-1:30pm on February 9th and 10:30-12:30 on February 23rd

Push the boundaries of slab-built cylinders in this texture free-for-all.   Beginning with hand-rolled and stretched slabs, Lulu will demonstrate how to create expressive textures on clay.  Once students have prepared their texture collections, Lulu will share her method of joining smaller pieces together in a process reminiscent of collage, quilting, and the Surrealist game “Exquisite Corpse.”  These textured slabs can be formed into cups, vases, utensil crocks, planters, and more. The second session will cover glazing techniques to highlight the weird and wonderful texture on your pots. We will provide a variety of tools for creating texture, but students are encouraged to bring their own tools and found materials as well.  No experience needed.
