Sewist Skills: Introduction to the Serger

Join Siobhan for this dive into the sometimes scary world of sergers.

This 4 week course is a great step for sewists who have the basics but want to try working with stretch fabrics to create lounge and athletic wear.

CONCEPTS

  • What is a serger?

  • Develop your serger skills

  • Learn to read and use a pattern

  • How to take your measurements

  • Working with stretch fabrics

  • Pinning and cutting

  • Finishing

MAXT will provide all thread, notions, elastic and practice fabrics. 

Students will need to provide 6yds total of Athletic knits /75% 4 way stretch-knits (4yds in color A, 2yds in contrast color B) in the color/pattern of their choice.
