Handbuilding 101: Going Beyond Pinch Pots

Pinch pots are a fantastic way to work with clay, requiring few tools besides your hands and your imagination.  Learning to pinch and attach clay into spherical forms provides you with a starting point for both pottery and sculpture.  Students can choose to make a simple sphere sculpture or use the sphere as a starting point for a bottle, vase, or connected sphere sculpture.   This workshop will introduce you to the pinching technique including preparing your clay, pinching and attaching clay into your desired shapes, and decorating with colorful underglazes!   

Studio staff will finish your pots with a food-safe clear glaze to enhance your decoration and increase their durability.  Work will be ready for pick-up within two weeks of the workshop.  Beginner-friendly, youth 12+ can attend with a parent/guardian.
